Pratidin Bureau

A notice has been issued by the Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) to Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia to start an inquiry into the allegations of "physical assault" by Assam Police on members of the 'Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha' at Dispur Last Gate on October 5 during a dharna carried out by the organization of specially-abled people.

The state human rights commission asked to submit the inquiry reports within 30 days.

It may be mentioned that demanding appointment of disabled persons for the vacant posts, Pratibandhi Suraksha Sangstha staged massive protest at Dispur Last gate during Assembly Session.

Many protesters were injured as the police resorted to baton charge and used  water canon  to disperse them.
