Unidentified miscreants this morning at 6.10 am triggered a "low intensity Improvised Explosive Device (IED)" in front of Vishal Mega Mart at Chingmeirong locality in Imphal town, police said.

The IED which was "prepared in a tin fish container" was exploded by using a mobile as a "trigger mechanism", a senior police officer told Pratidin Time.

No casualty and damage of property was reported as a result of the explosion, said the officer.

Monetary demand is believed to be the cause behind the heinous attack, the officer said, adding Imphal West Police Commandos are investigating the case.
