IEDs recovered in Guwahati

In a sensational incident, two powerfulimprovised explosive devices (IEDs) have been recovered in the city onWednesday evening.

According to reports, one of theIED was recovered in front of Bharali Brothers' in Panbazar, while the otherone was recovered near Paltan Bazar Police Station.

Both the IEDs were recovered by the Guwahati Police on the basis of statements made by an ULFA (I) militant who was arrested from Tinsukia on Wednesday.

Guwahati Police Commissioner, Munna Prasad Gupta and other senior officials rushed to the spot immediately after the IEDs were recovered. Police initiated an investigation into the matter. "We had inputs. We recovered one of the IEDs from a drain. The investigation is on," said the Commissioner of Police, adding, "There's no need to panic."

The IEDs were recovered ahead of the Filmfare Awards 2020 to be held in Guwahati on February 15th.
