IMD issues thunderstorm warning for northeastern states

The IMD has issued a weather warning of thunderstorm, squall and dust-storm at various places in the country on May 17.

Thunderstorm, accompanied by gusty winds, are very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Sikkim.

Such weather conditions shall be seen in sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Lakshadweep, said an advisory.

According to the advisory, a thunderstorm, accompanied by a squall, is likely at isolated places over West Bengal and Odisha.

The advisory further said that heat wave conditions likely over some parts of West Rajasthan and in one or two pockets of East Rajasthan.

Heavy rain is also expected at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
