Differentorganizations and parties along with locals of Kakopathar have staged roadblockade at 15 No National Highway in Sonjan in protest against the corruptionof the contractors in constructing the roads.

The locals alleged that the contractor Jitul Gohain has embezzled the funds sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) scheme. Gohain is the contractor of JR Construction and locals also alleged that he is an intimate of BJP MLA Bolin Chetia.

The protestors demanded a high-level inquiry into the corruption that has been made by the contractor along with the political leaders associated with it.
