Lockdown Likely To be Extended for a Week: Himanta

The decision on the extension of lockdown in Kamrup (M) will be decided on Sunday by the Chief Secretary and the health department, said Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Addressing the media today at Janata Bhawan, the minister said that the Nagarik Samaj has appealed for another two weeks lockdown. "Although the Nagarik Samaj has proposed for another two weeks lockdown in the district but the health department has said another one week of lockdown is sufficient and on the fourth week there will be some restrictions with relaxations," said the minister.

The minister further stated that the health department will sit in a discussion with the chief secretary and will come up with a decision on Sunday regarding the extension of lockdown.

He further stated that the positivity rate has come down to 16 % in the state.
