LS polls: 71 percent turnout till 5 PM

Around 71 percent voters exercised their franchise till 5 PM on Thursday in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam, officials said.

As of now, Tezpur recorded 73 percent polling, Kaliabor 72 percent, Lakhimpur 69 percent, Dibrugarh 71 percent and Jorhat 70 percent, according to sources.

A total of 41 candidates are in the fray for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam.
