LS Polls: Mamata attacks Himanta in Dhubri

Pratidin Bureau

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday attacked Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that the Assam Minister was named by one of the accused of chit fund scam.

While speaking at an election rally for Trinamool candidate Nur Islam Choudhury in Dhubri district of Assam the TMC chief said, "I have this document where the accused of the chit fund scam claims that Himanta took money from him. Why hasn't the BJP government taken action against him?"

Speaking on the NRC issue, the West Bengal CM said her party was pained after names of 40 lakh genuine citizens did not find mention on the NRC list and said, "BJP is only creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims. They are inhuman to keep children in detention camps."

"I and the people in West Bengal remember all the songs of Bhupen Hazarika," said Mamata and informed that to keep his legacy alive, her government is considering taking over Bhupen Hazarika's home in Kolkata and renaming a road after the maestro.
