Lumding Reports 1st COVID-19 Death

Lumding reported its first death of COVID-19 on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Amal Saikia who was an employee of the railway.

Saikia died while he was under treatment at Lumding Railway Hospital. He was also a kidney patient and was under treatment for few days.

He was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and later shifted to Lumding Railway Hospital and succumbed to the disease on Tuesday.

Following his death, the Hojai administration has taken away his dead body for further rituals.

According to reports, he was first tested negative but later tested positive on Tuesday itself in the RTPC test.

The doctors and nurses who came in contact with him have been quarantined by the administration.
