Manipur extends lockdown till July 15

The N Biren Singh government on Sunday evening announced the ongoing lockdown in Manipur will be extended for another 15 days from July 1 to 15.

The lockdown in Manipur was expected to be lifted on June 30. The state has reported a total of 1.092 cases so far with 660 active cases and 432 patients have recovered. All positive cases are returnees except seven frontline workers who were in direct contact with patients.

The Manipur CM said that inter-district bus service will be operational between July 1 and 15 maintaining all COVID-19 safety measures but no other public transport will run during this period.

The CM also said that a special train carrying 1,258 people stranded in Bengaluru will be arriving in the state soon. So far 22,000 people have returned to Manipur by trains. Five flights will be arriving in Imphal on a daily basis from Monday onwards.
