Mary Kom reaches Guwahati for 2nd India Open Boxing

Six-timeworld champion Mary Kom on Saturday arrived in Guwahati to participate in the secondedition of the India Open International Boxing tournament to be held from May20 to May 24. The star pugilist spent the afternoon sharpening her skills atthe Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in the city.

The Olympic bronze medallist will make her competitive debut in 51kg. "A change is always good and I feel more confident in 51kg after last few months of rigorous training," said Mary Kom. Further speaking about Guwahati, the Indian boxing icon said, "It feels like homecoming to come to Guwahati and I hope there will be tremendous support for all the Indian boxers."

As per reports, foreign teams have already started arriving with Thailand and Argentina being the first teams to touch down in Guwahati on Saturday. The organizers have informed that other teams are expected to arrive in the city on Sunday.
