Massive Fire Breaks out Near Dibru-Saikhowa

Pratidin Bureau

A massive fire erupted on Sunday near the Dibru river in Dibru-Saikhowa National Park under Tinsukia districts. The fire triggered an alarm, threatening to affect the National Park.

According to the officials of fire department, they have been continuously trying to extinguish the blaze but the winds coming from the river are aiding the fire and it is spreading to nearby areas.

Locals suspected that miscreants have set the fire on some trees, which has started to spread to a distance of 4 kilometers in the National Park.

"Until sometime, the blaze remained confined to trees, dry leaves etc, but within sometime, it spread to a distance of 3-4 km from the spot of fire," our correspondent reported.
