MP Khalek’s boat got stuck during flood inspection

Pratidin Bureau

While the Barpeta MP Abdul Khalek was today helping in the relief and rescue work being carried out by the Disaster Response Forces and Government officials in the flood-affected areas on the outskirts of Barpeta town, his own boat got stuck.

Khalek was taking stock of the flood-affected areas in an engine boat when the boat got stuck in the Beki river due to strong water current and wind.

The MP was in the middle of the river for nearly 1 hour but on-time action by the rescuers' personnel and people ensured that the boat reached the bank safely.

The rescue personnel got into the water and pushed the boat to the river bank. The MP was accompanied by Barpeta Zila Parishad vice-president Samsul Haque, member Habibullah, and Abdul Jakir.
