A member of the terror outfit Jamiat Mujahideen Varat (JMV) was arrested from Hatsingimari following an operation by a team of Assam police. The arrested JMV member was identified as Nazrul Islam, informed South Salmara-Mankachar Police.

Nazrul was being interrogated by officials of the Assam police, said top police officials. According to sources in the police department, the JMV member was planning to carry put a major terror strike in Assam.

More revelations in this regard can be made only after interrogation, they said. Police had received a tip-off that a Mujaheedin member was collecting funds for their outfit, sources said.
