NE Students to get Hostel in JNU

The Ministryof DoNER today released an amount of Rs. 11crore for the construction of ahostel at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) for North Eastern students residingin New Delhi.

An officialof DoNER Ministry said that the tendering by CPWD is in process adding thatthis is the first of its kind hostel in JNU which will have 224 rooms and accommodate424 students. Out of 224 rooms, 24 rooms have been assigned for disabledstudents and the remaining rooms will be occupied by equal number of boys andgirls i.e. 200 boys and 200 girls.

It has alsobeen informed by the official that the four-storied building will be built inapproximately one and a half acre area and the construction work will start inthe coming weeks.

The ministryof DoNER has also started the land acquisition process for the Rohini hostelfor North Eastern students studying in colleges and institutions under DelhiUniversity and Rs. 2.5crores has already been released for the construction ofthe hostel will be built in an area of about 5 acres of land.

According tothe official of the DoNER Ministry, the development of the northeastern regionhs been the priority for the Narendra Modi-led government adding that thegovernment will make all efforts for the implementation of ongoing developmentprojects in Northeast and will take measures to introduce new projects for thebenefit of people of the NE region.
