“Need No Alliance, Will Win Panchayat” – RP Sharma

Pratidin Bureau

The Panchayat polls in the state are likely to be held in December this year.

BJP MP of Tezpur Loksabha Constituency Ram Prasad Sharma who is known for making controversial statements had blasted again by pushing comments over AGP-BJP alliance.

From 2016 assembly polls, AGP and BJP had an alliance and both the parties registered resounding victory.

However, the MP said to media that "We will definitely win the upcoming Panchayat polls. There is no doubt."

He confidently told media that "BJP will occupy 80% seats of panchayat in the state without alliance."

According to his statements, it has come to light that BJP may go alone in the panchayat polls.

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders are threatening to pull out of the coalition with BJP in the state if the Citizenship (Amendment) Act was passed by the Centre.

It may be mentioned that AGP reiterated again and again that the regional party would pull out of BJP-led ruling alliance in Assam if the latter goes ahead with the controversial citizenship bill.

Not only AGP, the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill has already invited the anger of ethnic groups in Assam along with banned outfit ULFA-I.
