New twist in APSC scam, now Session judge wants to testify

Pratidin Bureau

The APSC scam has taken a new twist as the District Session Judge wants to testify and  informed that he had been approached by the arrested lawyer turned middlemen Sailen Sarma Barua  seeking favourable judgment in return of money.

This sensational revelation came today when the District Judge met Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court and informed him. He however was questioned by Chief Justice for delay informing the top court of the state about the matter.

Both lawyer Sailen Sharma Barua and middlemen Surajit Chaudhury who is husband of a jailed ACS officer, hatched the plan and got money from each of the jailed ACS officers and offered a big sum to the Judge in lieu of bail.

The police came to know about it and arrested both of them and then the Judge approached Chief Justice. Now the said judge is also under the scanner and question has been raised why he informed the Gauhati High Court after the arrest and why not when the money was offered.
