NIA takes over Zoo road bomb blast case

TheNational Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe in the sensational Zooroad bomb blast case on Thursday. The NIA took over the investigation fromAssam Police.

Earlier,the Police had arrested ULFA leader Pranamoy Rajguru, Assamese actress JahnabiSaikia, Chinmoy Lahkar from Guwahati, Amit Ballav Goswami from Golaghat andIndra Mohan Bora from Nagaon in relation to the case. Rajguru and Saikia werearrested within 24 hours of the blast. The prime accused ULFA-I cadre BijoyAsom was arrested on May 21st, 2019 from Tinsukia. A former student of theprestigious Gauhati University (GU) was also arrested on May 28th, 2019 inrelation to the case.

All the accused were produced before an NIA court today.

The grenade blast injured 12 people, including two SSB personnel. Two bike-borne persons lobbed a grenade near the Guwahati Central shopping mall in the late evening hours of 15th May 2019.
