No New Appointments Till COVID-19 Situation Improves: Himanta

Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that there will be no new appointment in the state until and unless the coronavirus pandemic gets over.

The minister said this while visiting the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) today to take stock of the COVID-19 situation. "The COVID-19 cases in the state will go up to three times the number we have today in August which means that 65000 cases will be detected in the next month," the minister said while briefing the media at JMCH.

He further stated that from August 1 itself the work of the new schemes will be started.

Talking about the COVID situation in Jorhat, the minister said that the numbers of cases in Guwahati and Jorhat are proportional. He said that COVID hospital will be set up at Jorhat temporarily and the scanning center will also be set up in the wards.
