No proposal yet from state for additional funds

Assam is now caught in the politics of flood. Assam sought special package for flood-ravaged Assam, BJP has pointed that Assam has Rs 559 Crore unused fund lying in the disaster relief fund.

"The central Government released its share of Rs 251.55 crore of the State Disaster Response Fund on Tuesday and there would not be any shortage of fund to provide relief to the affected people": Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the State has sufficient funds to meet any exigencies arising out of the flood and respective districts must inform the state government about their requirements immediately.

Sarma said that state government has not communicated to the centre seeking special flood package. He reiterated that the state sufficient funds to tackle the post-flood management.

All the Deputy Commissioners were provided funds in advance in two installments to meet the requirement of providing relief materials to the affected families. There is no shortage of funds to provide relief materials and the fund position improved further yesterday after the Centre released its share of disaster response fund, he added.
