The department of education Manipur has introduced 'No School Bag Day' for students studying from Class 1 to Class VII to "reduce stress" among the students of this category.

Anoffice memorandum signed by Commissioner T Ranjit of Education (S) informedthat the decision was taken in view of the long term physical and mental affectcaused by carrying heavy school bags leading to various inconveniences, disturbance and health problems.

Thenewly introduced policy will be applicable for all working Saturdays and willfurther be applicable to all government, government aided and private schools.

It also said students are always engaged with routine works, school curriculum, and additional home work assignment thereby finding it hard to focus on quality time and extracurricular activities that can bolster one's personality.
