Students across Assam are expressing rage over the conduct of exams by universities and colleges, and have taken it to Twitter demanding the cancellation of final year and end semester exams due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic and escalating active cases in the state.

The social media campaign #NoExamInAssam #SayNoToUGCGuidelines took off today with over 20k tweets after Dibrugarh University (DU) announced on Friday that it would be holding the final year and final semester examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the month of September complying with the UGC guidelines that stated final year and end-semester exams should be conducted by the end of September, this year in online, offline or in a blended mode.

Meanwhile, Gauhati University has said that the evaluation for promotion for even semester regular students of all the Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses will be made on the basis of internal assessment and marks obtained in the previous semester examinations. The varsity issued a notice on Tuesday last, "For all courses of Under Graduate and Post Graduate Final semester examination will be held preferably in blended mode from the second week of September depending on the normalcy of the COVID-19 situation."
