Pratidin Bureau

Governor of Assam Prof. Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the North East Farm and Food Tech 2018 at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati on May 09.

The three-day North East Farm and Food Tech 2018 is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

At the inauguration ceremony, the Governor said "I strongly believe that North Eastern region could emerge as a major centre for food processing and can command a high place both in domestic and international markets."

The Governor said that both the central and state governments are making synergistic efforts to promote startup companies and develop entrepreneurship in the north east. He added that the availability of agri and horticultural resources and their organic cultivation in the North East had created a huge export potential both in fresh and processed form.

Assam Minister of Industries and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary said that given the tremendous availability of natural resources coupled with attractive tax incentives, North East India today could become an attractive destination for investment.
