North East Police to be set up in line of Interpol, says Assam DGP

Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia, participating in a talk show organised by All India Radio (AIR), has said that North Eastern states are considering setting up of North East Police in the line of Interpol to prevent increasing crime in the region.

Saikia is hopeful that the step would help to fight against terrorism in more coordinated efforts in North East.

The DGP has informed that operation against militants will be intensified across the state particularly in Upper Assam. He also said that the Assam Police prioritises prevention of crime against women and children.

The DGP assures maintenance of proper law and order in the state while publishing the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) on 30th of June.
