North Guwahati bandh, silent march to condemn incident

The incident of boat capsize near Aswaklanta Temple in North Guwahati had created sensation not only among the commuters who use country boats daily but among the residents of North Guwahati as well as the two dead in the incident belong to that region.

People in North Guwahati have taken out a silent march, condemning the unfortunate incident, protesting against the government for their negligence towards the Inland Water Transport Department and mourning the loss of the two lives in the incident.

Pertaining to the incident, all the educational institutes and commercial establishments in North Guwahati have also been declared closed.

In the memory of the two souls, who lost their lives in the fateful incident, the bandh has been called by the North Guwahati Nagarik Samaj.

Three persons drowned and at least 11 went missing after an overloaded motorised country boat capsized when it hit JICA construction activities on Wednesday.
