NRC | Mass rally demands extension of timeline

To prevent the harassment meted out to people across the State as well as Barak Valley in the name of National Register of Citizens (NRC), a mass rally staged in Silchar on Tuesday.

The protesters also demanded to extend the deadline for submission of claims and objections for National Register of Citizens (NRC).

It his regard, a delegation of protesters met Deputy Commissioner of Cachar Dr S Laxmanan and submitted a memorandum.
People from various parts of the district took part in the mass rally.

The government today released the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC) list with names of 28,983,677 citizens in Assam. However, around 40 lakh people have been left out of the list.
