The Morigaon Police on Monday arrested a person fromDimapur for producing Voter ID to get included in the NRC. Identified asJiyabur Rahman, the person used fake voter ID as supporting document in the NRCprocess.

The incident of fake voter ID came to light during averification process at the Jaluguti NSK in Morigaon. Based on a complaintlodge at the Mikirbheta Police Station, Jiyabur was arrested on Monday fromDimapur area in Nagaland.

Allegedly one named Hibjur Rahman had supplied the fake voter ID to Jiyabur in lieu of cash. Jiyabur is currently being interrogated by the police.

It may be mentioned here that illegal migrants have been allegedly using fake voter ID cards to get registered in the NRC process in Assam.
