Oil Tanker Drivers On Strike In Manipur

Pratidin Bureau

Oil tanker drivers working along the Imphal-Dimapur highway have begun a strike over safety concerns due to the dilapidated condition of the highway, which has been badly affected by landslides.

"Our demand is only that this road is fixed as early as possible. We want to reach home safely. We will not go to Kohima because the road is badly damaged and we will continue the strike till any action is taken," said a stranded driver Deepak Singh.

Another stranded driver Ganesh Rai said, "Around 400 tankers are here. We are facing losses in our work as we are stranded here without any facility. We want the government to make some arrangements so that we can cross Dimapur."

It may be mentioned here that the oil tanker drivers are on strike since Wednesday and till now no help has reached the drivers.
