One arrested for Defaming ‘Pratidin Time’ Editor-In-Chief

Dispur police on Thursday evening arrested a person for posting offensive comments on Facebook .

Social Media has become a breeding ground for hate speeches and defaming others. This time it is Editor-In-Chief of Pratidin Time Nitumoni Saikia, who has fallen prey to such hate speeches over Facebook.

A person named Nilutpal Baruah, who is a story-writer, has been alleged of posting derogatory remarks about the Editor-In-Chief.

Nitumoni Saikia lodged a complaint at the Dispur Police Station against the writer.

A case has been registered against accused at Dispur police station (Case no. 3362/18 – 294/507IPC R/W 67 IT Act) under Indian Penal Code.

The writer was picked up for questioning following an FIR lodged by Nitumoni Saikia in Dispur police station.
Interrogation is on and more information is awaited.
