One arrested from Kashmir for remarks against martyr Sunil Kalita

Assam Police on Tuesday arrested one from Jammu and Kashmir for making controversial statement against martyr Sunil Kalita and his wife. A team of Assam Police Crime Branch arrested the accused identified as Mohammad Abbas Bhat alias Syed Abbass and currently on their way back to Assam.

"The accused has been arrested for his derogatory remarks against martyr Sunil Kalita and his wife on social networking site Facebook," said a top police official. He was arrested following strict orders by CM Sarbananda Sonowal.

Earlier, one Ramen Barua lodged an FIR with Kamalpur Police Station on 15 June, regarding the obscene comment made by Abbass.

It may be mentioned here that Sunil Kalita (Resident of Kamrup district) of 209 COBRA battalion, sustained serious injuries during IED blast by Maoists in Jharkhand on May 28, and breathed his last on June 13.
