One killed in landslide at Jorabat in Guwahati

Three hours continuous rains in wee hours of Friday in Assam – Meghalaya border areas in South eastern parts of Guwahati triggered flash flood and landslides at many places in Jorabat area.

A lady was killed in landslides at Sankardev Nagar in Jorabat. The victim was identified as Indira Deve. Several vehicles, houses in the greater Jorabat area were also damaged in boundary wall collapse and landslides.

Vehicles plying on NH 37 in Jorabat stretch were stucked in floodwaters. A Jorhat bound night super bus was stucked in floodwaters . Jorabat police had tough time to rescue passengers from the bus. People in the locality appreciated IC of Jorabat police station Birinchi Das's brave act in rescuing the stranded passengers from the bus.

About 9 km stretch of NH 37 from Khanapara to Jorabat area are under mud and debris due to the rain and landslides in the area.
