“Ordinance to safeguard land of Assam’s people” – Chandra Mohan Patowary

State Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Chandra Mohan Patowary held a press conference today in relation to the recent ordinance passed by the Assam Cabinet to promote industrialisation. Asking people not to worry about the ordinance, he said that government is working for protecting the culture, boundary and land of Assam, and that the move will safeguard the land of the people of Assam.

The Minister, at the same time, added that no industrialist will be able to buy agricultural land. Patowary informed that Assam had 20 lakh registered unemployed and 3.5 lakh skilled labour have returned to Assam from other states. Saying that no permission will be needed to set up industry for three years, he added that, however, permission of electricity and fire department will be required for safety purposes. Before setting up an industry, an application has to be filed to the Commissioner of Industries along with the registration number and patta number of the personal land.
