Patanjali to boycott Govt. Yoga Day event

Pratidin Bureau

At a time when more than 180 countries and all the states in India are observing International Yoga Day with much fanfare, Patanjali Yog Samiti, Assam stands conspicuous by its boycott of the special occasion for the 5th consecutive year.

Talking to Pratidin Time, President of Patanjali Yog Samiti, Assam, Bikash Goswami said "We have been observing the special day with vigour and gusto in collaboration with Assam government since its inception. But, this year we will not collaborate with the government as we have not received any cooperation from the district administration which we used to get earlier. Besides this, they already grant its official permission to Art of Living Foundation. We already informed our frontal body regarding the matter."

"However, we will observe the day in our 12 yoga camps in the city like bygone years": Goswami added.
