Pawan Chamling Era Ends In Sikkim

Sikkim's five-time Chief Minister Pawan Kmar Chamling's reign of over 24 years in power ended on Thursday (May 23, 2019) as his party Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) lost the state elections.

The party lost the elections to Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF).

In the 32-member house, SDM needed to win 17 seats to remain in power. However, it won only in 15 seats.

SKM won 17 seats and gained the required majority needed of forming the government.

It may be mentioned here that Pawan Chamling has been Sikkim's Chief Minster since December 1994.
