Pension scheme launched under martyr Kushal Konwar’s name

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today ceremonially launched the Swahid Kushal Konwar Sarbajanin Briddha Pension Scheme in Guwahati.

Named after freedom fighter Kushal Konwar, who sacrificed his life for the nation, the ambitious pension scheme is first of its kind in the country.

Under this scheme, people aged 60 years and above will get a monthly pension of Rs 250.

The government has earmarked Rs 400 crores annually for the scheme.

On the occasion, the CM felicitated senior citizen beneficiaries of the scheme and ceremonially marked launch of the scheme by remotely transferring funds through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
