People lost faith in CM Sonowal: Tarun Gogoi

Pratidin Bureau

Former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday reacted to the case filed against noted intellectual of the State, Dr Hiren Gohain, and said that, "BJP is promoting that the case has been filed without the consent of CM Sarbananda Sonowal. It is not possible as CM is holding the Home Ministry," adding, "If it has happened without the consent of CM, then why Sonowal has not taken any actions against officers."

The former CM said, "People have lost faith in CM Sonowal as he says one thing and does the other." Gogoi also said that Sonowal led BJP government has taken the decision of passing the Bill in the executive held in Majuli. "If they are on people's side, then they should take a proposal of scrapping the Bill," Gogoi added.

Taking a jibe at Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Tarun Gogoi said that there is a new international Jinnah in Assam now and "He is none other than Himanta Biswa Sarma."

Gogoi also doubted the resignations by three AGP Ministers from Assam government. He said, "Governor has still not accepted the resignation letters of the three AGP Ministers." Gogoi informed that CM has not yet sent the letters to the Governor. Doubtful of AGP's stand the Ex-CM said, "There might be a plan behind it."
