Dibrugarh's biggest businessmen and renown planter Mrigen Jalanand four others were arrested and sent to judicial custody for forging landdocument papers.

According to police source Mrigen Jalan(61) with the help oftwo Swanta Kundu and Raju Kejriwal, got forged papers from the Land AdvisoryCommittee complete with sign and seal of the Deputy Commissioner having noobjection certificate for land disposal.

Accordingly Mr Jalan undervalued his priority and sold it toNemi Chand Agarwal(71), Sara Devi Kejriwal(70) and Anil Kejriwal (42).

All of them were arrested when the land official of Dibrugarhdistrict came to know about the forgery. This has created sensation in Dibrugarh.

Mrigendra Jalan,  is  the chairman of Bharatiya Chah Parishad (BCP),a tea planters' body and also the proprietor of Jalan tea estates here  right in the heart of the Dibrugarh city.

The FIR was lodged with the police by Dibrugarh Sub Registryoffice in connection with the alleged forgery in 'land sale permission' documents.All those arrested had moved for bail but their bail plea was rejected. TheJail Superintendent at the Dibrugarh Central Jail was instructed to provide thenecessary medical treatment. According to the police, more people are expectedto be arrested in the case.
