PMAY-G | Assam gets Rs 2,600 crore again

The Centre has recently sanctioned Rs 2,600 crore under the Prime Minister's Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) scheme for construction of two lakh more houses in the State during the financial year 2019-20.

Reportedly, the BJP-led central government had satisfied with the implementation of the PMAY-G scheme in the state. The rates of completion of the PMAY houses across the State during the two fiscal years were markedly better than that of earlier years.

During the two financial years, altogether 1,74,863 PMAY houses were constructed as against the sanctioned 2,26,535 PMAY houses (as on the first part of June 2019).

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is an initiative by Government of India in which affordable housing will be provided to the urban poor with a target of building 20 million affordable houses by 31 March 2022.
