In yet another shocking incident in 21st century Assam, a pregnant lady was brought to a hospital in a hand-cart. The incident took place in Majarchar under Barpeta district, where family members of the lady took her to a hospital on a hand-cart.

According to family members of the lady, they dialed Mrityunjoy – 108 Ambulance Service, but the ambulance service gave them no response. Hence family members carried her to a hospital in a hand-cart.

At a time, when Health Minister of the State, Himanta Biswa Sarma is busy advocating much-debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill; this kind of incidents in villages across the State show the real conditions of the rural health services in Assam.
