Private Colleges excel in Assam HS results

Withthe Higher Secondary examination results declared, the private junior collegeswere seen performing well in comparison to government institutes. The AssamHigher Secondary Education Council declared the results on Saturday.

In science stream, the pass percentage is 86.59. A total of 36,469 students had appeared in the science stream of which 31,577 passed. In Arts stream, 1,34,496 of 1,78,998 candidates cleared the examination, registering a pass percentage of 75.14. Similarly, in Commerce stream, the pass percentage is 87.59. A total of 17,797 students had appeared in the commerce stream of which 15,589 passed.

The students of the private junior colleges in the State outperformed the government institutes. The top scorers of all the three streams are from private colleges. With 478 out of 500 marks, Khushboo Firdous of Brilliant Academy Junior College, Darrang topped the exams in arts stream. Similarly, with 478 marks, Bitupan Arandhara of Nagaon's Ramanujan Junior College jointly topped the science stream, while Ashim Sarkar of Vivekananda Junior College, Cachar topped the commerce stream with 474 marks. However, Sayan Mazumdar of Darrang College has also topped the result chart along with Bitupan Arandhara in the science stream.
