Taking part in 'ABHIMAT' show of Pratidin Time, AGP Working President and Assam Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has failed to fulfill the promises he had made to the people of Assam.

"The centre has not shown the concern it should have towards Assam's foreigner issue. Rajnath Singh had made a number of promises regarding the NRC and the foreigners' issue of Assam but we have not seen any path-breaking action" Mahanta said.

"During Rajnath Singh's meet with his Bangladeshi counterpart on July 16, the union minister did not even bring up the matter. However, the topic of issuing Visa was given utmost importance" Mahanta added.

It may also be mentioned here that difference of opinion has been emerging between the AGP and BJP, both of which are parts of the coalition government in Assam, recently regarding the foreigner's issue and NRC.
