Rajnath to inaugurate BOLD-QIT in Assam tomorrow

Pratidin Bureau

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Assam on Tuesday to inaugurate Border Electronically Dominated QRT Interception Technique (BOLD-QIT) under Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBMS) programme on India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district.

Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the boundary monitoring system that would help Border Security Forces (BSF) to monitor the unfenced riverine area of Brahmaputra and its tributaries with the help of different kinds of sensors.

The BSF is safeguarding 4,096 km long International Border with Bangladesh. Earlier in 2017 the Ministry of Home Affairs decided to go for a technological solution to cover the 61-kilometre of the Border area in Dhubri district where River Brahmaputra enters into Bangladesh.

In September 2018, Home Minister, Rajnath Singh had inaugurated two similar smart fencing pilot projects of five-kilometres each on India-Pakistan international border in Jammu.
