Rakshabandhan: Women, Children Tie Rakhi On Assam CM Sarma’s Wrist

On the occasion of Rakshabandhan, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday celebrated the day with sisters from different walks of life in Guwahati.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the Chief Minister stated that he is "deeply moved by the warm gesture" carried out by women belonging to different organisations.

"Deeply moved by the warm gesture of my beloved sisters belonging to different organisations, who tied Rakhi to me. On the auspicious occasion of #RakshaBandhan, which celebrates the eternal bond between brothers and sisters, I extended my heartfelt greetings to everyone," Dr. Sarma tweeted.

Rakshabandhan, one of the most popular Indian festivals, is an annual occasion celebrated throughout the nation to commemorate the special bond between siblings. Traditionally, on this day, sisters tie rakhis on their brother's wrists and both of them exchange gifts.
