Rangia: Young Couple Commit Suicide, 2 Bodies Recovered

In a shocking incident that took place in Rangia in Assam on Sunday, two youths, a boy and a minor girl reportedly committed suicide together.

They reportedly jumped in front of an incoming train and were killed on the spot. Believed to be lovers, the two died together with their bodies recovered lying near to each other.

The incident took place at Udiyana village in Rangia in Assam's Karmrup district. The bodies were recovered besides the railway tracks on Sunday.

The deceased male youth has been identified as one Mainul Haque, who was living as a tenant in Rangia. He was a resident of Mangaldoi in Assam.

The minor girl was reportedly a student of the ninth standard. Meanwhile, the reason behind the suicide has not been established yet.

Notably, cases of youth suicides in the state are rising at an alarming rate. To put a halt to it, Assam Police are in the process of starting a helpline number for free consultations for mental health related issues.
