Renowned economist Dr. Jayanta Madhab passed away on at a private hospital in Guwahati on Sunday night. He was 91.

He was admitted to GNRC Hospital on October 5 and shifted to Apollo Hospital, Guwahati on October 17 and breathed his last on yesterday night.

Former CMD of NEDFi and Director of Asian Development Bank, Dr. Madhab was also the financial advisor of the Chief Minister from 2003-2009.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal expressed grief over the demise of Dr. Madhab and ordered to perform the last rites with full state honour.
