Rhino poacher arrested in Guwahati

In a joint operation of the Forest Department and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, a rhino poacher named Asmat Ali has been arrested.

Asmat Ali was associated with the Rhino poaching in December 15 and presently he has been kept in Bagari range of Kaziranga.

Aliwill be presented in the court today.

Between2008 and 2018, poachers had killed 84 rhinos in Assam and the majority of themwere in Kaziranga. In 2018, six rhinos were killed in Kaziranga, a UNESCO WorldHeritage Site and also a Tiger Reserve.
