Rhino Poacher arrested in Jakhalabandha

The Policeon Saturday night arrested a rhino poacher from Jakhalabandha. Following ajoint operation carried out by a team of the forest officials and Jakhalabandhapolice, the poacher was arrested from Deopani Gubin gaon village.

The poacherhas been identified as Bidya Rongfar. He was in radar of police and forest officialssince long, informed a police officer.

Rhinopoaching of Assam is one of the major environmental issues in India whichcontinues in the region of Kaziranga National Park, Manas National Park andsome other grasslands of Assam.

Illegalrhino horn trade has been the main problem facing authorities of therhino-protected areas of Assam. Some other parts like nails, skins have veryhigh value in Asian traditional medicinal market, which has led to increasedcases of rhino killing in the recent years.
