Rituparna Pegu murder: CM Sonowal orders inquiry to CID

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal handed over the probe into the murder of Rituparna Pegu at Noonmati in Guwahati to the Criminal Investigation Branch (CID) on Saturday.

On Friday, Rituparna Pegu was brutally murdered in the Noonmati area. Accused Hussain Ali stabbed Pegu over an argument. Pegu was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident was recorded on a CCTV. On the basis of the footage, Assam police have arrested five persons. This information was shared on the official Twitter handle of Assam police

Pegu was an employee at Arman Home Furnishing before he lost his job due to the lockdown. Residents of Guwahati including have been protesting on the streets demanding justice for Rituparna Pegu.
