RTI activist Dulal Bora in govt axe cry

RTI activist Dulal Bora has been arrested by Hatigaon Police this morning for allegedly extorting money from a Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI).

Bora, however, denied the charges and said that he will fight and go to court. As per reports, the RTI activist sought information regarding a case (RTI No. D.B-6066/19/(B) under RTI Act, 2005.

In a letter to the Principal Secretary of Transport Department, Bora claimed to have detected multiple corruption cases against the MVI, Kamrup (R) Naymuddin Ahmed.

Meanwhile, the Court of Civil Judge, Kamrup (Metro), had issued summon to RTI activist Dulal Bora in connection with a defamation suit filed against him by Dr Kashyap Prakash, OSD to the Chief Minister, while passing an order of ad-interim injunction restraining Bora from circulating or releasing any statement in any form in respect of the subject matter of the defamation suit till January 21, 2020.
