Round Table seeks remedial measures on NRC

Pratidin Bureau

A round-table conference on Sunday organized by the civil society organizations looked up to legal and legislative remedial measures to remove the faults of the NRC.

The conference "Assam after NRC: A quest for knowledge" organized by the Asam Sahitya Sabha, Nanda Talukdar Foundation and Studio Nilima felt that genuine Indian citizens names were left out and many Bangladeshi names were also included in the NRC.

Various speakers participating in the roundtable felt that this correction must be done with the current NRC. However, the Round Table was in no mood to denounce it.

The roundtable also demanded an easy way out to include for all those excluded, genuine Indian's names without going through the FT.

Renowned Intellectuals, politicians, litterateurs and the legal fraternity have brainstormed on the issue.
